Upon graduating this summer with a BA in Fine Art from City & Guilds Art School London, my artistic journey has evolved significantly. While initially exploring multimedia painting and textile art, I discovered a profound passion for etching during my first year at the school. Guided by experienced mentors, I delved into the century-old process of treating metal plates, captivated by the boundless potential for mark-making and the exhilarating interplay between control and the unknown.

My artistic approach is deeply rooted in skill and craftsmanship, aspects I consider essential to my practice. The art of etching continues to fascinate me every day, the known and the unpredictable, its ability to evoke a sense of wonder and exploration. I am particularly drawn to the interplay of light and darkness, a fascination that currently shows in my monochromatic work.

In this project, I have been driven by a profound curiosity and a desire to explore themes of wanderlust, solitude, and perspective. Whether traversing a serene rural landscape or navigating the bustling streets of a city like London, solitude offers a unique opportunity for introspection and growth. In both settings, the solitary traveler gains a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world, finding beauty and meaning in the journey itself.

The images are inspired by a diverse range of sources, including everyday encounters, extended walks, personal memories, sketches, found imagery, and photographs. By intertwining these elements, I aim to create compositions that resonate with both familiarity and a touch of enigma, encouraging viewers to reflect upon their own experiences and emotions.
